Our graduates

English Language Company trains around 250 native and non-native speakers of English to become English teachers each year. Some of our graduates are now teaching and travelling the world while others have taken up positions in schools in their home countries.

Our trainers

Our trainers are very experienced teachers of English as a foreign language. They all have university degrees and specialist TESOL qualifications. They have experience teaching in a wide range of countries and are familiar with students of different learning backgrounds and age-groups. They all share a passion for teaching and have excelled in this field.

Our programs

At ELC Sydney we offer English for TESOL. These are designed for non-native speakers who are already teachers or would like to be teachers of English.

We also offer a TESOL program in Beijing in partnership with Teach and Travel China. This is for native and non-native speakers who would like to teach English in China.

All of our TESOL programs are extremely thorough and practical. We believe that to develop into good teachers our trainees need to:

  • understand theories of learning and teaching
  • become familiar with a wide range of approaches and techniques
  • practice teaching with the support of a constructive tutor
  • watch others teach and analyse lessons

Our environment

It is important that training takes place within a school environment so that all trainees can have easy access to teaching and learning facilities. They become familiar with the use of classroom technology and can utilize our teaching resources. All of our TESOL programs include practice lessons and classroom observations.

TESOL is available in ELC Sydney campus only.

What is TESOL?

TESOL stands for "Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages".

It is sometimes also referred to as TESL (Teaching English as a Second Language) or TEFL (Teaching English as a Foreign Language).
